Garry Scott Wheeler is a multi-award-winning international 3D abstract acrylic artist, bestselling author, and retired entrepreneur whose work bridges visual art, music, and cultural history. His paintings are a contemporary echo of the California Dreaming era—an abstract reimagining of the creative spirit that defined the mid-1960s through the early 1970s. Using bold color palettes, layered textures, and immersive 3D elements, Wheeler invites viewers to step inside the work itself, with many pieces shipped alongside 3D glasses as a direct tribute to the psychedelic age.
Before turning his full attention to painting and writing, Wheeler spent decades working at the intersection of technology, music, and creative communities. He was a founder or co-founder of eight different startups, including BandDigs.com, a live and interactive video platform built specifically for the music industry. His career in music also includes work as a producer, band manager, and concert promoter, experiences that continue to inform both his artistic perspective and his historical writing.
Wheeler’s ongoing project, California Dreaming: Painting the Soundtrack of an Era, blends original artwork, long-form writing, and music curation to explore the people, places, and movements that shaped one of the most influential cultural periods of the twentieth century. The project functions as both a visual archive and a narrative journey—part love letter, part cultural excavation—connecting sound, image, and memory.
A lifelong traveler, Wheeler has visited more than 100 countries, including a three-year, 170,000-mile journey through 80 countries with his wife. These experiences—spanning natural landscapes, historic cities, and artistic communities—continue to shape his creative voice. After selling his home in Naples, Florida, Garry returned to full-time travel and will spend much of 2026 in California, immersing himself in firsthand research tied directly to the California Dreaming era.
In addition to his visual art and writing, Wheeler curates over 100 music playlists on Spotify and remains deeply engaged in arts advocacy. He recently completed his term as Board President of the Marco Island Center for the Arts and the Arts Center Theatre, continuing a long commitment to supporting creative institutions and cultural storytelling.
